COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- A deputy with the El Paso County Sheriff's Office has tested positive for COVID-19, said EPCSO in a release Sunday.

The deputy has now been in isolation for nearly a week and is home recovering.

"All employees who have had contact with this deputy has been notified and are taking appropriate precautions," said EPCSO.

In a second release Tuesday, the sheriff's office reported that a second deputy had tested positive for the virus.

"We now know the virus has spread throughout the community and further attempts to prevent casual spread are becoming more difficult. We continue to monitor our employees and inmates for symptoms and will take the appropriate measures at that point.," said Jackie Kirby with the sheriff's office in a statement.

The second deputy isolated themselves since first developing symptoms. All employees and inmates who have had direct or indirect contact with them have been notified, said the sheriff's office.
