COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- According to police, a rollover accident in downtown Colorado Springs was caused by a Bustang bus that ran a red light.

The Colorado Springs Police Department said officers from the Gold Hill Division were dispatched to the intersection of Kiowa St. and Cascade Ave. for a rollover crash at 6:28 a.m. Monday.

CSPD said a passenger bus operated by the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) was driving eastbound on Kiowa St. and failed to stop at the red light at Cascade Ave. That's when the bus hit a southbound gray SUV on Cascade Ave.

That caused the SUV to roll on its roof onto a nearby grassy median. According to CSPD, the SUV driver managed to crawl out of the vehicle after rolling.

The victim was treated on the scene and was later taken by AMR to a local hospital where he was treated for minor injuries.

The bus only sustained minor damage, and no one on the bus was injured.

According to CSPD, the bus driver did have a commercial driver's license (CDL). The driver was cited for careless driving and running a red light.
