Trump accused of inciting violence against Clinton
The latest controversial comment from Donald Trump has some accusing him of threatening violence.
At a rally in North Carolina, he was talking about the consequences of Hillary Clinton being allowed to appoint Supreme Court justices, and the impact on gun control, when he made another off-the-cuff remark about what could keep that from happening.
“If she gets to pick her judges, nothing you can do folks, although the second amendment people maybe there is, I don’t know,” he told the crowd.
Following that comment, Hillary Clinton supporters and her running mate accused Trump of inciting violence toward his opponent.
“Nobody who is seeking a leadership position, especially the presidency, should do anything to countenance violence, and that’s what he was saying,” said Sen. Tim Kaine.
Trump later said he was only talking about the political power of gun rights supporters.
In Colorado Springs, some of those “second amendment people” visiting Whispering Pines Gun Club told KRDO Newschannel 13 they agreed the comment came off as threatening.
“Yeah, I did. I was trying not to think that,” said Arlan Jordan.
Others felt he was only referring to politics.
“A like-minded group of people unifying politically and actively working toward a change in that regards,” is what Mark Neuenfeldt felt Trump was referring to.
Neuenfeldt, an employee at Whispering Pines, says all the political propaganda coming from both sides, and simply the possibility of new gun control laws, has kept them busy.
“That’s definitely brought a lot of people in here, and a lot of people who hadn’t ever really considered owning a gun are coming in. We have a lot of first time gun buyers,” he said.
Trump has consistently accused Hillary Clinton of wanting to essentially abolish the Second Amendment.
Clinton has said she supports common sense gun control to reduce gun violence.
