Local forces keep watchful eye on U.S. competitors in Rio
A cyber defense team in Colorado Springs is keeping a close eye on the safety of hundreds of U.S. athletes competing in Rio for the summer Olympics.
The Colorado Army National Guard’s defensive cyber operation is working closely with sports officials, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the FBI.
They are looking for potential cyber threats to protect athletes and spectators.
“Things that we’re concerned about are not only malware, be it potential actors defacing website, potential threats to athletes, any of those things are types of things we’ll provide advice and assistance on,” said Lieutenant Colonel Brad Rhodes.
The operations center is in the North Colorado Springs Readiness Center.
