Dramatic body cam video shows moments before deadly police shooting
Police body camera video obtained by the Pueblo Chieftain shows officers pleading with a man to drop his weapon before they opened fire.
The incident happened on March 24, 2016, in the 2600 block of 8th Avenue.
The video shows officers Dassity Miller and Hunter Lewis confronting Joel Gonzalez, 48.
Gonzalez was holding a gun and can be heard saying “please forgive me.”
Over the course of several minutes, the officers are heard ordering Gonzalez to drop the gun.
The officers fatally shot Gonzalez in the doorway of the home after he made a sudden move.
The shooting was ruled justified.
