Officials hope funding for Pueblo Riverwalk will increase tourism

A project more than five years in the making in Pueblo is getting the money needed to expand the Riverwalk.

Pueblo has been approved to keep $35 million in sales tax from the state so crews can start construction on the new additions.

The popular Pueblo attraction will extend to add a professional bull riding facility, a multi sportsplex, and a new pavilion for outdoor activities.

The city council president says this will be big for tourism in the area.

“This is going to bring more people down here. It’s going to enhance Pueblo becoming more of a destination,” said Steve Nawrocki, president of the Pueblo City Council.

Not only do city leaders think this new expansion will help tourism, they also think it will open the door to more growth for businesses.
