Larry H. Miller Toyota donates $20,000 to help military families

A local nonprofit that helps soldiers will now be able to help even military families thanks to a generous donation.

Larry H. Miller Toyota, of Colorado Springs, presented $20,000 to the redistribution center on Tuesday. They are a nonprofit that serves soldiers from its Fort Carson facility called Warriors Warehouse.

Warriors Warehouse provides food and gently used household items to military families and veterans for free. Every 30 days, soldiers can stop buy and get a weeks worth of food.

Once a year, the Toyota dealership chooses a nonprofit or charity to donate to. This year, they have chosen the redistribution center because of the impact it’s had in the military community.

“As you can imagine, we get a lot of requests and given the military presence and our appreciation for what they do for the country, we felt very close to this and wanted to select them,” said Bill Stahelin, general manager, Larry H. Miller Toyota.

Since Warriors Warehouse opened in February the nonprofit has helped 10 to 15 families a week. They’ve been having a hard time keeping up with the demand and say this generous donation will go a far way.

“Working with them everyday and seeing the struggles they go through it really means a lot to us. I appreciate it very much. Thank you,” said Melanie Bauer, director of operations, Warriors Warehouse.
