Defense attorneys plead former Rocky Ford police officer’s case

Defense attorneys presented their side of the case in the murder trial of James Ashby in La Junta on Monday.

Ashby is a former Rocky Ford Police Officer and he is accused of killing Jack Jacquez in 2014.

Prosecutors rested their case last week, arguing Ashby shot and killed Jazquez in cold blood.

Ashby told investigators he thought Jacquez was a burglar when he shot him and was acting in self defense.
