New details emerge about proposed land swap in Colorado Springs
The city of Colorado Springs released new details Wednesday night about a proposed land swap with the Broadmoor that many outdoor enthusiasts are against.
The biggest point of contention is a 189-acre parcel called Strawberry Fields.
During a meeting Wednesday, the city said a majority of the area will be protected. The Broadmoor will develop an area less than 10 acres into a horse stable and picnic area.
The city also said those who use the proposed stable and picnic area would be shuttled in and traffic would not be affected.
But opponents argue the city isn’t getting a fair deal and say the piece of land it’s given up is invaluable to its residents. Opponents also worry about the boutique stable and picnic area planned for the area.
