Colorado Springs man dies in Telluride skiing accident
The San Miguel County Sheriff’s Office says that a man from Colorado Springs died while skiing in Telluride Wednesday.
The accident happened at around 11 a.m. in the Gold Hill area of Telluride.
The sheriff’s office says that William Scott Elligott, 49, was skiing with his 20-year-old daughter when he lost control and tumbled into a steep, wooded area.
When rescuers reached Elligott, he did not have a pulse. CPR was administered and an AED was applied, but Elligott could not be revived.
“This is a terrible tragedy and our thoughts are with the family,” Sheriff Bill Masters said.
The death is under investigation, but foul play is not suspected.
The sheriff’s office says this was Elligott’s first time skiing at Telluride.
