Fire on Fort Carson training range burns 550 acres, is 90% contained
Two fires were burning on Fort Carson training ranges Friday afternoon.
The first was quickly contained to four acres.
The second fire, near the Turkey Creek area on a training range, had burned 550 acres and is 90% contained.
A Chinook helicopter with a bucket as well as ground crews were working on the fire. Smoke could be seen for miles.
No homes are threatened.
The Fort Carson, Fountain and El Paso County Wildland fire crews responded.
Both were caused by training exercises.
