Air Force Academy cadet arrested in Boulder sex assault

An Air Force Academy cadet has been arrested in connection with the sexual assault of a woman last year in Boulder.

Boulder police said Wednesday that 21-year-old Jack Warmolts was arrested at the academy and was being held at the Boulder County jail.

Police say the assault happened last April in the University Hill neighborhood near the University of Colorado on a night when the alleged victim was with a group of cadets, including Warmolts. They say DNA evidence collected during investigation matched Warmolts’ DNA.

Police spokeswoman Shannon Cordingly says it took time to work with the victim and get DNA results from the lab.

Warmolts hasn’t been charged and court records don’t list an attorney for him yet.

The academy says it’s cooperating with Boulder police.
