Retired FBI profiler: Dear is paranoid schizophrenic

A retired FBI profiler said accused Planned Parenthood shooter Robert Dear shows signs of paranoid schizophrenia.

Pete Klismet has studied dozens of suspects, and is the author of two national award-winning books about the FBI.

After listening to Dear’s jailhouse interview with KRDO Newschannel 13’s Heather Skold, Klismet called Dear disingenuous.

Dear, when asked about what triggered his actions, said he was motivated “by love of my woman.” His girlfriend was hospitalized at the time for a boil, he said, and would not be discharged.

“They were killing her. That’s what I thought. The feds and the doctors, they had her at the end of the hallway, and nobody’s around,” said Dear, in his interview.

In the past, Dear claimed he didn’t premeditate his actions.

But Klismet disagrees.

“A lot of people would say he snapped. No, he didn’t snap. This has been going on for many, many years. Finally, this is the culmination of the anger that he had,” said Klismet.

Klismet also said, that Dear’s view of those who died on Black Friday is callous.

“He didn’t have any interest whatsoever in the people that he killed, but he had a great deal of interest in his belief, that he had saved about 3,000 babies,” said Klismet.

Robert Dear is charged with 179 counts, including murder, attempted murder, and assault.
