People honor the life of Black Friday shooting victim

People in Colorado Springs are remembering the life of one of the victims of the Black Friday shooting Saturday.

Jennifer Markovsky, a wife and mother of two, was shot and killed at Planned Parenthood Nov. 27.

UCCS Officer Garrett Swasey and Ke’Arre Stewart were also victims of the deadly shooting.

Markovsky’s godfather Davi Wingate said her life ended too soon.

“She had a heartfelt compassion for helping others,” he said.

He said Markovsky was helping her friend at an appointment at Planned Parenthood on Black Friday when a shooter took her life.

Hundreds of people went to Holy Theophany Orthodox Church to honor Markovsky’s life.

Colorado Springs Mayor John Suthers came to pay his respects.

“Your community is determined not by tragedy but how you respond to tragedy and that’s the process we are going through,” he said.

Markovsky was laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery, the same place Officer Swasey was buried.
