Sheriff’s Office: Smock worn by shooting suspect is standard issue
Several people took notice Monday when Planned Parenthood shooting suspect Robert Dear appeared in court wearing a safety smock.
Shirley Johnson wrote on Facebook “Take that vest off him. His victims did not have the protection of vests!”
Another poster, Michelle Kirby responded “That’s not a bullet proof vest. That is what they put people in suicide watch in.”
The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office addressed questions about the vest in a news release Monday afternoon.
The sheriff’s office says the smock is not a bullet proof vest and that it is a standard issue jail item.
