Voters filling out ballots with Election Day next week

The fate of two major citywide ballot issues hinge on your vote in Colorado Springs.

Measures 2C and 2D would increase your taxes to fix potholes and improve trails.

BB is a statewide vote that asks people to approve a third year of pot taxes to fund schools.

“I actually was not aware the election was going to be Tuesday,” Jenna Bowden said. “That’s how out of touch I am.”

However, longtime Colorado Springs resident John Orsborn hasn’t missed an election in decades.

“Since i was 21 years old,” Orsborn said. “So, do the math, 57 years; 55 of them have been in this town.”

The El Paso County Clerk and Recorder’s office said as of Friday morning there are 78,000 marked and returned ballots. That’s only 23 percent of registered voters.

“It would be nice for that to get up to 40 percent by Tuesday, but I’m a little skeptical that’s going to happen,” Orsborn said.

You can vote in person at a polling center from now until 7 p.m. Tuesday night. You can find a list of locations in El Paso County at our website, krdo.com, under the Hot Button.
