Family friendly haunted house tours happening Sunday geared towards kids

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- A local haunted house in Colorado Springs is holding family friendly tours Sunday October 30 from 12 to 3 p.m. at Fear Complex.

The annual family friendly event started in 2012 as a way to help victims of the Waldo Canyon Fire ten years ago because families didn't have anywhere to go trick or treating.

Since its inception, it has grown each year and attracted more families.

"We have a handful of different actors spread out throughout the entire haunt," Fear Complex Manager Jennifer Fisher said. "We have the fire department coming out, police department, and K9 unit. It's community oriented."

The kid friendly event will feature the same four rooms as the regular haunt, but with all lights on and no scares.

"We have four different mini haunts in one massive building," Fisher said. "The original Haunted Mines, which is still a big part of our building, a house kind of idea, a medical feel, and a clown section."

The actors that normally scare will be passing out candy to the kids. So guests should come prepared and bring a trick or treat bucket!

"It'll be a good time," Fisher said. "It'll be an experience for them to actually see a major haunted house but in a kid friendly way."

The last day for the regular haunted house is Halloween, October 31. But there's still a chance to check out the facility after that. They have two more dates, November 4 and 5, for lights out tours. Guests will be given a glow stick and all the lights will be turned off for a unique experience.
