EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- About 453,000 ballots were mailed out to all eligible, active registered voters for the 2022 General Election, according to the El Paso County Clerk and Recorder's Office.

“Elections are incredibly important as the mainstay of our democratic system,” said Clerk and Recorder Chuck Broerman. “We know the citizens of El Paso County are anxious to be involved in determining the direction of our country, state, and local community and by voting they can accomplish that goal. I encourage people to embrace their civic responsibility to vote in the election and make their voices heard.”

Depending on where voters reside, the ballot will contain a running for U.S. Senator, U.S. Representative, State Senator, State Representative, Governor, Secretary of State, State Treasurer, Attorney General, local races for County Clerk and Recorder, Treasurer, Assessor, Sheriff, Surveyor, Coroner and County Commissioner District One and District Five, and state measures.

The El Paso County Clerk and Recorder's Office is urging voters to research candidates and measures. Also, looking over the sample ballot here.

There are 39 secure 24/7 ballot drop-off locations across Southern Colorado. The clerk and recorder's office says voters may return their ballot through the U.S. Postal Office. Also, the office recommends that voters do not return their voted ballot by mail after Oct. 31.
