USCIS

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) is set to welcome 35 new U.S. citizens during a special naturalization ceremony Friday at Pikes Peak Library District’s Library 21c.

According to the USCIS, the 35 citizenship candidates originate from 21 different countries and live in Colorado Springs, Fort Carson, Green Mountain Falls, and Manitou Springs. The countries are Bangladesh, Burundi, Cameroon, Canada, China, Colombia, Congo (Kinshasa), France, Germany, Guatemala, Haiti, Hungary, India, Jamaica, Mexico, Nepal, Nicaragua, Philippines, Thailand, the United Kingdom, and Vietnam.

The USCIS said they often hold naturalization ceremonies at museums, schools, libraries, and other notable locations to celebrate the conclusion of an immigrant’s journey to citizenship and honor the commitment they’ve shown along the way. The agency added that special venues not only make these events meaningful for those who have voluntarily chosen to participate in American democracy and dedicated themselves to the country’s future, but they also reflect the strength and spirit of the United States.

Andy Lambrecht, USCIS Field Office director, will administer the Oath of Allegiance.
