Fatal crash shuts down Hwy 50 east of Pueblo

MGN

A crash involved several vehicles left one person dead and shut down both sides of Highway 50 east of Pueblo late Friday evening.

According to the Colorado State Patrol, it happened around 9:18pm at the intersection with 60th Lane, about 5 miles east of Avondale.

The victim died on scene.

Several other people were involved in the crash, which lead to one vehicle catching fire, but none of the others were hurt seriously.

A CSP spokesperson said alcohol was suspected to be a factor in the crash, but it's unclear which driver might have been under the influence, or who was at fault.

All traffic was detoured onto Huckleberry while the scene was cleaned up.
