New scoreboard to light up Dutch Clark Stadium

Friday nights won’t be the same for many high school sports lovers in Pueblo.

A new scoreboard will light up Dutch Clark Stadium in time for the upcoming school year. Pueblo City Schools’ Board of Education unanimously approved spending more than half a million dollars on a new state-of-the-art scoreboard.

The scoreboard is budgeted to cost $574,636 and will initially come out of the NFL Grassroots Program Grant, followed by the district’s capital project funds. The district said the funds will be fully repaid in the coming years through sponsorship payments.

Athletic Director Rick Macias said the scoreboard will be a big improvement from the current scoreboard, giving fans a chance to see instant replays.

“It’s going to be a very high-tech scoreboard with LED lights, and all the works that go with those,” Macias said.

The new scoreboard is expected to be up by Aug. 28, in time for Friday night lights.
