UPDATE: Camper killed by stray bullet at Rainbow Falls ident

southern colorado family is pleading for help tonight after a stray bullet killed their father over the weekend. the douglas county sheriff’s office says 60- year-old glenn martin, from monument, was hit by the stray bullet while camping with his family friday night. it happened at rainbow falls  campground. that’s in southwest douglas county… north of woodland park. the family is devastated… and hopes that by sharing their story, the} story, they can get new leads in the investigation. they tell krdo newschannel 13’s emily allen they need answers. 000426 my world just cracked and now he is just gone forw carlie… her dad was everything. 000159 he was so perfect, someone you want to be if you want to be someone in life. glenn martin loved to camp. but over the weekend, this family tradition cost him his life. 000521 he was sitting in his camping chair 3 feet from chris. and he just sent down and said “ow” and chr said are you ok? and he said no. and it was it… from there… it was done. the group heard gun shots earlier in the day by their campsite near rainbow falls in the peak national forest. they reported it… and the gun fire stopped… they never heard a gun go off when the stray bullet struck. 000736 that person needs to know what they have done. they have ruined the our lives right now 001354 he was a good grandpa, a good dad, a good father in law. i couldn’t ask for anything better. i don’t know what to else to say stand up: the douglas county sheriff also spoke here at the douglas county criminal justice center. investigators believe it was an accident, but can’t rule anythign out yet. they hope people come forward for so they can close this case and the family can have some sort of closure. 0001647 man up. so we can have some peace of mind. we need closure. this has really been a shock to everyone in our family and anyone who lost a loved one must understand the hole and the need for some sort of answer and that’s all we can ask for carlie and her family hopes answers bring them one step closer to finding peace. in castle rock, ea krdo nc13. the douglas county sheriff says cases like this are extremely rare. if you have any information, you’re asked to call denver metro crime stoppers at 720- 913-stop.
