42 arrested in Colorado during two-month child sex sting

The Colorado Springs Police Department says dozens were arrested during a two-month long crackdown on child predators.

The sting, which took place nationwide during April and May, was titled “Operation Broken Heart II.”

Police say that the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force zeroed in on offenders who have, make and share child pornography, try to entice children online, are involved in child prostitution or are involved in child sex tourism.

Springs Police say the operation was a coordinated effort by law enforcement to arrest as many child predators as possible, and provide internet safety education and outreach to the community.

Police say 1,140 people were arrested nationwide, including 42 in Colorado.

The Colorado Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force is made up of numerous law enforcement agencies from around the state and is coordinated through the Colorado Springs Police Department.
