Commissioners agree to settle with two former employees in Maketa investigation

El Paso County will settle with two former sheriff’s office employees who filed claims after the scandal surrounding former Sheriff Terry Maketa.

Charles Kull and Emory Gerhart filed those claims in December of 2013.

They say they lost income and benefits because of adverse working conditions under the former sheriff.

The county attorney says the settlements will protect tax payers.

Commissioners voted to approve the settlement on May 12, 2015.
