Drivers offered discount coupon for pothole repairs

Southern Colorado drivers are being offered the Midas touch to save money on pothole damage repairs.

Midas shops in Colorado Springs, Pueblo and Denver have mailed 20 percent discount coupons to consumers during the past two weeks.

Rob Carbaugh, manager of the Midas at 1410 South Nevada Ave. in Colorado Springs, said the regional owner decided on the promotion after seeing so many vehicles damaged by potholes this year.

“Your typical pothole repair, you’re running about $79.99 for an alignment,” he said. “If you’re looking at shocks or other suspension components, you could easily be $300 to $500, depending. So that 20 percent is a huge difference.”

Carbaugh said drivers are not required to prove pothole damage to receive the discount.

“That’s good for me,” said Michael Hallisy, a Midas customer. “I’m just getting an alignment. I don’t know for sure (if my damage is) from the potholes. I got new tires, so I’m getting that alignment. But I’m worried about driving in the future because of all the potholes.”

Carbaugh said the promotion has increased business at his shop.
