Mud-covered man accused of breaking into homes, hitting officer with chair

Colorado Springs Police say a mud-covered man kicked in the front door of a home and confronted a 5-year-old inside, and that’s just for starters.

Police say a woman who lives in the home struggled with the man, identified as Gerald Kimble, 49, and eventually pulled him out of the house.

Police say Kimble ran from the home and arriving officers. They say he broke into three additional houses looking for a place to hide. They say that when Kimble went to a fourth home, the person who lives there detained him until officers arrived.

Police say that Kimble was injured while running from police and was taken to Memorial Hospital. They say that Kimble tried to escape from the hospital by grabbing a chair and attacking a police officer with it. They say the officer was hit in the head with the chair twice.

Kimble faces charges for assaulting a police officer, burglary and attempted escape.
