A Pueblo group wants to save a mural dedicated to Pueblo’s military veterans

A mural honoring Pueblo’s military veterans is fading away, but a group in the city wants to save it.

A meeting was held Friday to share ideas on how to save the veteran’s mural on City Center Drive and Santa Fe Avenue.

Army veteran Larry Alvarado said the mural is either fading or erased because of water damage.

He expects the repairs to the mural to cost $3,000.

Alvarado said the mural is a landmark in Pueblo.

“We’re known as the Home of Heroes. We have over 16,000 veterans in Pueblo. A lot of people want that mural up there,” he said.

The group also has plans to add a giant mural on the Arkansas River Levee.
