Man arrested for attempted murder after trying to harm police officer

Patrol officers from the Sand Creek Division were dispatched to a business in the 300 block of South Academy Blvd. on Saturday night to check on a man acting erratic. When officers arrived, they found the male barricaded in a bathroom. Police say the suspect lunged toward an officer and struck him in the chest with a fifteen inch edged weapon. Police say the weapon deflected off the officer’s trauma plate, and the officer was not injured. The suspect, Jeffrey Bricker, 28, was placed into custody and booked into the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center for attempted murder.
