Pueblo West girl to receive an award for giving shoes to people around the world

A Pueblo West girl has given more than 700 pairs of shoes to people around the world and an organization is going to honor her for her charitable efforts.

Madison Tatinski, 10, is one of two people in Colorado to earn the Prudential Insurance Spirit of Community Award.

The company will take Madison and her family to Washington, D.C. for a ceremony. She will also receive a medal and $1,000.

Madison has given shoes to people in Pueblo, Montana, Ecuador, Guatemala and Mexico.

She is honored to receive the award, but Madison said the only thing that matters to her is giving back.

“I did it to help kids, because shoes are a big need,” she said.

The ceremony is set to happen in early May.
