Family moves makeshift memorial for teen killed in crash home

A makeshift memorial created for two teens killed in a crash Monday morning has been moved back to one family’s home.

The crash happened just before 1:15 a.m. Monday (9/1/14) at the intersection of Hodgen and Roller Coaster roads in northern El Paso County. Two passengers, 17-year-old Beau Begier of Monument and 18-year-old Ryan Pappas also of Monument, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Begier’s car was parked at the Park-N-Ride in Monument near Palmer Ridge High School. The two teens’ friends have covered the car with flowers and messages.

Begier’s father, Don Begier, picked up the car Thursday. First he walked around the car, peeling off flowers and reading messages.

“Just amazed at all the love and support and how many of his friends wanted to tell him they loved him one more time. It’s amazing,” said Begier.

The family plans to donate the car to a charity.

“We are going to find a charity we feel like Beau would have wanted to donate the car too so that they can benefit from it. As we said he had a real passion for autistic children so if they accept donations like this it might be something like that,” said Begier.

Begier said its special to see how much his son and Pappas were loved by their peers.

“We feel like kids have had the opportunity to speak to Beau in a special way and he thought it’s time to move it back to the house. And there is some family that wants to see it,” said Begier.

Funeral services for Beau Begier will be held Sunday at New Life Church.
