Air Force’s Jordan Jackson drafted by Saints

COLORADO SPRING, Colo. (KRDO) -- Jordan Jackson, an Air Force graduate and team leader, is an NFL player. Jackson was drafted by the New Orleans Saints in the sixth round of the NFL Draft.

Jackson had 15.5 sacks for his career, which ranks second in program history.

Jackson radiated happiness while sitting down to talk with KRDO about being drafted.

"It’s crazy," Jackson said. "It doesn’t even feel real yet. I’m so excited to get out to New Orleans. I’m so excited to meet the fans, meet the team, just get ready to work. It still feels surreal. It doesn’t even feel real right now."

Jackson was on the phone with the Saints, still trying to process the moment. After talking with the coach, and GM, it hit him. He got the call before his name appeared on the broadcast as the Saints latest pick, and was able to soak it in. Jackson watched the draft with his family in Jacksonville, FL.

"I actually got to sit and watch my name come up (on the screen), and watch some of the highlights, and I was good. I’m not gonna lie, a couple of tears might’ve come out. A couple of tears might’ve come out. After I got off the phone, I hugged my mom, and a few more tears might’ve popped out."

Jackson is the ninth Air Force football player to be drafted, and the first position player since 1998.
