Springs police officer arrested

A Colorado Springs police officer is facing drug charges after being arrested Tuesday evening (6/24/14).

Officer Jeffrey Warkocz, 51, was taken into custody at around 6 p.m. He’s facing a charge of obtaining a controlled substance by fraud or deceit, which is a class four drug felony.

“The arrest of an officer not only impacts the department but also the community we serve. Please be reassured that the investigation is conducted with the same integrity and the arrest is carried out in the same manner as all of our investigations”, Police Chief Peter Carey said.

Warkocz has been placed on Administrative Leave with pay.
