Two Boulder officers and suspect hurt in standoff

Our partners at 7News in Denver report that two Boulder Police officers and a suspect were hurt during a stanoff and shooting early Friday (5/30/14) morning.

Police tried to resolve the fare dispute at around 1 a.m. Friday but then a man involved ran suddenly ran away and into an apartment building on University Hill as officers chased him. According to a statement from the city, the suspect pointed a gun at officers leading at least three officers to fire.

It’s not clear yet whether the suspect fired at officers.

The suspect barricaded himself in the apartment building for about 2 hours before members of the SWAT team were able to arrest him. He was taken to the hospital. His condition isn’t known.

KMGH-TV reports that one officer was hit with a bullet fragment. Another officer was hurt, but he has been cleared medically and is being interviewed by investigators.
