Cheyenne Canon homeowners clean up after hail storm

Tom Perkins, a longtime homeowner in Cheyenne Canon spent his Thursday afternoon repairing his roof after it sustained minor damage from Wednesday’s hail storm.

Perkins told KRDO Newschannel 13 this was the worst storm he experienced in close to 10 years.

“I got three skylights that are broken out,” Perkins said. “My trees are all stripped, my flowers are all gone. Other than that, great. It’s Colorado in the spring. It’s exciting.”

Perkins estimated damage to his roof will cost hundreds of dollars.

Wednesday’s hail storm knocked down leaves, downed power lines, broke windows and dented cars across Colorado Springs.

In Denver, more than a dozen flights were diverted from Denver International Airport to Colorado Springs. Frontier airlines said 13 of its flights had to be canceled because hail damaged parts of the airplanes.
