Conservative group drops image of Obama from ad

Parents whose children were killed in a Colorado theater shooting are demanding a conservative group stop running ads featuring an image of Sen. Mark Udall visiting a hospital where other victims were recovering.

The conservative group Americans for Prosperity on Wednesday released an ad criticizing Udall’s support for the national health care law. The ad featured a solemn Udall standing next to President Barack Obama.

The photograph was taken when Obama and Udall visited a hospital to meet survivors of the 2012 shooting in Aurora, Colo.

Parents who lost children in the shooting say, quote, “Americans for Prosperity is exploiting our tragedy for political gain.”

A spokesman says the group has replaced that image in online ads and is sending an updated version of broadcast ads to Colorado stations.
