Local girl, paramedic continue special birthday tradition

Chloe Huddle of Colorado Springs celebrated her tenth birthday at Fire Station 15 to thank Alan Kent, the fire department paramedic who delivered her at her home in 2004.

Family and friends gathered at the station Saturday to share dinner and birthday cake.

Chloe’s mother gave birth eight days early, and Kent was part of the crew that came to her aid. The birthday celebration has become an annual event. Chloe creates a theme for each birthday. Dolphins were the theme this year.

In another interesting twist, Kent’s birthday is Feb. 23 — which was Chloe’s original due date.

Kent said he’d like to continue the tradition until he retires or until Chloe graduates from high school.
