Small businesses see a boost in sales
People in Southern Colorado decided to shop small after the biggest shopping day of the year.
Small Business Saturday was started in 2010.
Shoppers were in full force today, with some skipping the Black Friday rush to go straight to the small businesses.
“There are fewer people, less crowds and different merchandise you won’t find at the mall,” Linda Testa said.
And for other shoppers Small Business Saturday is safer.
“It’s nothing like crazy hockey players going after each other,” Eric Rubenstahl said.
Shop owners say they’re happy they didn’t have to pay for advertisement to show their best deals on Small Business Saturday, but they did use a cheaper way.
“Word of mouth, a lot of shops around here, we all know each other and if I know someone is looking for something I will send them (to that shops) way,” T-Shirt shop owner Rachelle Kahtava said.
Shop owners feel this will be a happy holiday.
“So far business is great, I expect this to be one of the best years we had,” Christmas shop owner Mike Fabrizio said.
If you missed out on Black Friday and Small Business Saturday, Monday is Cyber Monday.
