Police: Springs girl outsmarts would-be kidnapper

Police say one simple question may have saved a 12-year-old girl from being taken.

The incident happened on Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at 4:57 p.m.

Police say the girl was walking in the parking lot of Panorama Middle School, 2145 S. Chelton Road, when a car pulled up next to her.

The girl told police that the man driving the car told her that her mom wanted him to give her a ride home from school. The girl asked the driver what her mother’s name was and the car sped away.

The car is described as a black, newer-model Chevrolet sedan with California license plates. The girl didn’t get the license plate number.

The driver was a white man in his late 20s to early 30s with short, dirty-blonde hair.

Call Colorado Springs Police at 719-444-7000 if you have any information.
