Police look into report of man with gun at popular park

Garden of the Gods closed briefly Sunday night after someone reported seeing a gunman in the park.

Witnesses told police the man was wearing a bullet proof vest and had numerous guns.

Police sent several officers to the area and questioned at least one man about the report according to a police spokesman.

Later, another officer told KRDO Newschannel 13 they never found anyone with a gun. Police speculated that the witnesses mistook the photography equipment for weapons. Other possibilities– it was a prank call or the man left before police arrived.

The park was briefly closed but has since reopened.
