CDOT begins project to widen Interstate 25

The Colorado Department of Transportation begins work to widen I-25 on Sunday. It will be transformed from a four-lane highway to a six-lane highway from Woodmen Road to Monument.

In the process, contractors will be taking soil and pavement samples which will require overnight closures for two weeks.

That work begins Sun. Feb. 3 and concludes Sun. Feb 10. Traffic will be cut down to one lane for about one mile each night. A reduced speed limit will also be in effect through the work zone.

Crews will begin construction on the widening project in March. CDOT will be releasing more information about the project over the next several weeks.
