Evacuations lifted after fire destroys Larimer County home

Evacuation notices have been lifted for Red Feather Lakes residents following a fire that destroyed at least one home.

The home is believed to be anunoccupied summer cabin, according to the Larimer County Sheriff’s office.

Officials said a second structure was lost in the fire, but it’s unclear what type of structure it was.

Larimer County Sheriff’s Office spokesman John Schulz said Monday more than 360 emergency notifications were sent, telling residents to evacuate immediatelyat about 2 a.m. The fire was mostly contained by 5 a.m. Monday, officials said.

Sheriff’s officials said a propane tank exploded. They are still investigating the cause of the fire.
