Victim identified in deadly motorcycle crash

Police have identified the victim of Thursday’s deadly motorcycle crash in Colorado Springs as 25-year-old Kevin Michael Marinec.

Police say that Marinec was headed west on Lake Avenue when a car turned in front of him at the intersection of Lake and East Cheyenne Road. The driver of the small white Chevrolet was attempting to make a left turn at a green light, but did not have a green turn arrow.

Marinec died at the scene. The female driver of the Chevrolet and a passenger, who is a minor, were transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

No charges have been filed against the driver at this time pending the completion of the investigation, police said. The woman will likely face charges of Vehicles Turning Left and Careless Driving Resulting in Death. The driver’s name and confirmation of charges will be released upon the filing of the charges.
