Man Sentenced In Shooting Of Douglas County Deputy
A man convicted of shooting a Douglas County sheriff’s deputy has been sentenced to 111 years in prison.
Fifty-two-year-old Richard Wesley Anderson was sentenced Friday for convictions related to the shooting of Deputy Michael Garcia in August 2010.
The trouble started when Anderson was drinking at a bar in Franktown. Prosecutors say that after failing to pay his tab, Anderson threatened a bar manager who asked that he pay it, then placed a gun to the head of a customer before driving off.
Prosecutors say Garcia pulled Anderson over and was shot in the arm. Garcia returned fire and shot Anderson twice.
Anderson was convicted last year of attempted murder, driving under the influence, reckless endangerment, three counts of first-degree assault and two counts of felony menacing.
