Keeping Useless Pills From Pill Poppers
The Drug Enforcement Agency is hoping to keep useless pills from being used by abusers. On Saturday, they collected pounds of pills from a variety of Springs locations.
This is the second time this year that they’ve held a prescription take-back day. During their last event in April, they collected 2,000 pounds of medications from southern Colorado. Nationwide, they received 188 tons.
Matt Barden, DEA, said prescription drugs are the second-most-abused drug after marijuana. He said these events greatly impact the availability of prescription medications.
They collected medications for four hours. They will then been boxed up and taken to be destroyed.
