UPDATE: Peterson AFB Parachute Hits Power Line

A parachute hit a power line near Rush Tuesday.

According to Lincoln County Sheriff dispatch, the Air Force training accident happened along Hwy 94 at mile marker 46.

A spokesperson for the 302nd Air Lift Wing at Peterson Air Force Base says this was a routine training mission dropping heavy equipment to a landing zone.

The crew was flying a C-130 and as the load was being deployed from the plane, the chute malfunctioned and left the plane, landing on the power line.

The load never left the plane.

The accident caused a grass fire in the area. It was one acre and has since been put out.

No one was injured and the crew followed proper procedures.
