Facebook Fuels College Megaparty

A Fort Collins apartment complex that used Facebook to advertise “the biggest pool party of the year” got more than it bargained for after at least 2,000 people, most of them college students, showed up, forcing police to break up the rowdy poolside bash.

Four people, were arrested, at least two of them Colorado State University football players. Ten people were taken to the hospital, most of them for overconsumption of alcohol or minor injuries.

Police said fire and ambulance attendants were overwhelmed when they arrived Saturday at the off-campus apartment complex about 65 miles north of Denver.

Officers had to shut down surrounding streets while they cleared the complex.

Among those cited by police were 21-year-old Colorado State University linebacker James Skelton and 19-year-old defensive end Dillon Lawrence.
