3 from Colorado Springs die in crash near Walsenburg

HUERFANO COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- The Colorado State Patrol is investigating a crash involving three cars that left three people dead Friday morning just outside of Walsenburg.

CSP says winter road conditions are believed to be a factor as the area dropped below freezing through the morning.

According to CSP, the crash happened just before 7 a.m. when a Ford F-250 going north on Interstate 25 lost control and went over a guard rail into the southbound lanes of the interstate. After crossing over, the truck crashed into a Hyundai Elantra and a GMC Sierra, causing both of them to crash.

All three people in the Elantra were killed in the crash. The driver was identified as 21-year-old Mason Collier, one passenger was identified as 52-year-old Steven Collier, and the third deceased person was a 16-year-old. All three of them were from Colorado Springs, according to CSP.

The driver of the Sierra suffered serious injuries, but CSP reported he was in stable condition.

The driver of the F-250 was identified as 24-year-old Ragan Seely of Dallas, Texas. CSP says he was cited for the crash, it's not clear if he's facing any other criminal charges.
