Denver police: car veers into scooters, kills man

DENVER (AP) -- Police are searching for the driver of a vehicle that veered into a group of people riding scooters in downtown Denver killing one person and seriously injuring a second.

Police said the hit-and-run occurred at about 1:30 a.m. Monday morning. A silver vehicle veered into a turning lane with four people riding on scooters.

Two of the riders were hit by the vehicle, including a man who was thrown to the sidewalk and died. The vehicle was identified as a Chevy Cobalt. Police say the driver did not stop and fled the scene.
