Marty’s Saturday Morning Forecast – Record Hot Holiday Weekend! – 9/5/2020
Overview: Our holiday weekend will feature record heat, but our workweek will feature record cold and snow!
Today: Mostly sunny, breezy and hot with near record afternoon temperatures in the 90s to lower 100s for the plains; 80s for our local mountain communities.
Tonight: Mostly clear with low temperatures in the 50s and 60 for the plains with 40s to lower 50s over our local mountain communities; some of the high mountain valleys will cool into the 30s.
Sunday: Mostly sunny, breezy and hot with near record afternoon temperatures again in the 90s to lower 100s for the plains; 80s for our local mountain communities.
Extended: Labor Day (Monday) will be slightly cooler, but afternoon temperatures will still reach the 80s and 90s for the plains with 70s to lower 80s for the mountains and mountain valleys. An unusually strong cold front will Race across the state Monday night with very gusty wind and sharply falling temperatures. By Tuesday morning areas of rain and snow will be rolling over the area from north to south and the higher terrain around the Pikes Peak Region could experience below freezing temperatures. Should the current computer model projections hold true, snow could fall over much of eastern Colorado on Tuesday with accumulating snow likely on the higher terrain along and west of I-25. Temperatures will fall well below freezing for many areas Tuesday night into Wednesday morning and again for some areas Wednesday night into Thursday morning. Isolated showers could redevelop on Wednesday, but the air will slowly warm to near average by the end of the week.
