Contest calls for entries to redesign Colorado driver license
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- If you've got a great vision for imagery that represents Colorado, you've got a chance at having your art carried by millions of Coloradans every day.
The Colorado Department of Motor Vehicles is launching a contest to redesign the state's driver licenses.
The current design, which was launched in 2016 and then slightly redesigned for text purposes, features Mt. Sneffels. While mountains are pretty iconic for Colorado, the state thinks someone out there can come up with a better idea to adorn our driver licenses and turn them into "a work of art."
“Our identification cards and driver licenses are the one thing that we all carry around almost everywhere we go. These cards that most of us carry around are the single most present piece of art and represent our identity and the great state that we call home,” said Gov. Jared Polis. “These cards should be beautiful, a credit to our state, and a point of pride for all Coloradans and to make that happen we need help from our deep pool of talented creators.”
Entries are free, and you can submit up to three entries per person.
Up to ten finalists will be selected by a committee and the public will vote on the top three designs. The winning artist will have their name featured on all Colorado identification credentials along with their design.
